This name Hare Krishna as a denomination of some spiritual group, institution or some aspect of philosophy does not exist. All these boys and girls are members of ISKCON, what is International society for Krishna consciousness. Let us look a little bit about it's history and its founder.
This great and deep knowledge about us and the Lord exist in India from ancient times... Unfortunatelly, Indians had exclusively right to it. A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada was the first person in world history that left Indian border and brought it to us. He established this spiritual society, ment for those people who want to meet spirituality or to be precise, vaisnavism deeply. In the time of establishment, he hadn't a single dedicate follower. Between little group of regular visitors of his evening lectures he attached some of them to take over duties of first ISKCON trustees. Today ISKCON includes over 300 temples, 50 farms, 40 schools, 75 restaurants and special projects all over the world and takes care for milion congregation in the whole world.
Krishna consciousness is not a sectarian belief, but something more appreciable. It is practical science about spiritual values which are totally described in vedic literature of ancient India. The goal of Hare Krishna movement is to introduce the universal principles of God knowledge to all people so they can have a welfare from spiritual understanding, unity and peace.
Vedas recommend glorification, remembering and constant hearing about the Lord as todays best and most effective way to achieve self understanding. The Lord is known by lots of names, like Krishna, "the one who is attractive to everyone", Rama, "one who is reservoir of pleasure" ili Hare which points out His energy.
Members of ISKCON follow Vedas instructions, and always sing:
This divine singing, that sound vibration of His holy names, connect us directly with Supreme God and helps us gradually to develop our authentic relationship with God.
The basic mission of ISKCON is to initiate all parts of human society to dedicate at least little piece of their time and energy to this proces of hearnig and singing about God. That way they will gradually know that all living beings are spiritual souls, which are, by serveing and loving, eternally conected with Supreme Lord.
